Muziekhuis Utrecht

Muziekhuis Utrecht · Utrecht, NL · active acoustics, spatial audio

Rehearsal and try out venue with active acoustics and spatial sound. The existing electro-acoustic infrastucture was updated with echotope software and tuning technologies. Musicians are now able to practice their music within different acoustic environments, to prepare them for every scenario.

Muziekhuis Utrecht is a rehearsal and try out space where musicians prepare their shows before bringing it to larger venues. To give them a taste of how their program will perform in different acoustical environments, we installed our active acoustic software on top of an older electro-acoustic system originally designed by engineers Kees Neervoort and Ruud Kaltofen. Their custom designed dipole loudspeakers create a diffusing effect similar to our active panels, integrating a clever technique to reduce feedback. Together with Ulrich Pöhl from Insomnio and TouchLab, we updated these loudspeakers to feature both active acoustics and spatial audio applications.
